What is Fluosilicic Acid used for?
Fluosilicic acid (H2SiF6) is an inorganic compound that consists of potassium cations and the hexafluorosiliate IV dianion. It is mainly used to produce sodium fluoride as a defluorinating agent for glasses and ceramics. This application accounts for about 80% of the world’s consumption. Fluosilicic acid is also used to fluoridate water supplies in a process called water fluoridation.
